Building Security Surveillance Systems leveraging Ultra HD cameras on Fibre Infrastructure is a game-changer for the industrial sector. As industries and manufacturing firms battle with several security risks in their facility including theft, vandalism, sabotage, and trespassing, and require adequate and effective measures to minimize their impacts. Many of these sites have many entrances and are easily accessible; they also store assets that may be vulnerable to attacks. Manufacturing factories, Oil and gas production sites, refineries, gas distribution sites, chemical plants, pulp and paper mills, and power plants have all been highlighted as prospective targets for insecurity. As a result, a comprehensive security strategy is required.
This is why Kabelmetal Nigeria Plc (Kabelmetal), a leading global manufacturer of high-quality cables and wires such as Low Voltage Power Cables, Instrumentation Cables, and Control Cables, enlisted the assistance of Mitiget Assurance and Technology Services Limited (Mitiget), an information security firm, to redesign and build a functional surveillance system across its factories to enable effective measures to defend against industrial security threats. This was consummated through the signing of a retainership agreement starting in 2023. The agreement covers the continuous establishment and maintenance of trendy and functional physical security and surveillance infrastructure after the initial security risk assessment, control and technology implementation, and the establishment of a security governance framework. The goal is to create an integrated security system that will help the business effectively mitigate security risks, increase productivity, improve visibility across sites from a single point, derive integrated data insights, and simplify administration with a unified solution.
We used cutting-edge cameras with low-light imaging, ultra-high-definition, multi-dimensional perception, and leveraging fiber optic network infrastructure, which provides enormous benefits such as high environmental resistance, long-distance coverage, high-performance data networking, and broadcasting capable of transmitting data at very high speeds. As a result, identified blind spots were closed, high-resolution video surveillance systems were activated, real-time monitoring and analytics capabilities were enabled, and a more secure environment was established.
Commenting on the success of the project so far, Mitiget’s CEO Sunny Ukeachu stated, “We are extremely proud of our partnership with Kabelmetal and the innovative solutions we delivered.” This project exemplifies our dedication to providing our clients with superior security and technology services via innovation, professionalism, and ethics in line with our mission. We think Kabelmetal’s investment in these modern technologies will yield significant benefits in terms of security, productivity, and future growth.” “Mitiget has exceeded our expectations in delivering comprehensive and integrated surveillance security systems and connectivity solutions,” said Mr. Rufus Olusesan, CSO of Kabelmetal. He further stated: “The Mitiget’s team combined risk management, IT, governance, and physical security capabilities to deliver the expected solution, as well as the continuous support mechanism put in place which will undoubtedly improve our overall security at the factories.” Both the Heads of IT and Human Resources – Mr. Prince Okojie and Mr. Adewale Adesola respectively commended Mitiget for the solution which enables Kabelmetal to have a stable and functional surveillance system monitored around the clock. Mr. Ukeachu also commended the company’s management for its commitment to life and property protection throughout its operations. He urged other industrial and manufacturing facility managers to follow suit and upgrade their physical security and surveillance systems.
